Our good friends John & Emma came to show of their new arrival, baby Emily today.
Along came the proudest big brother of all, Charlie.
We enjoyed the afternoon with champagne, tea (served in my new lovely yellow teapot) chocolate brownies,
banana muffins and scones served with thick dollop of clotted cream & jam.
What a nice way to celebrate the birth of a new baby x
Back in November we held a 'Baby Shower' for my sister Mathilde who also lives in England, she lives in Crystal Palace (London) about an hour drive from us. Her baby girl is due any minute it's so exiting.
There were lot's of women, even more cake and a plenty of chatting that afternoon.
I donated just one cake, a strawberry vanilla ombre cake. Mathilde who is a master of cake baking delivered the rest apart from one amazing chocolate cake made by her boyfriend!
This cake is simply amazing, it's moist, airy light and so easy to make. This time i topped the cocoa icing with raw liquorice powder.
But you can decorate it with whatever you fancy.
An added bonus it's Lactose free so Felix can have it.
This is what you need to make one large cake: (Serves 25)
350g flour
225g lacto free butter (Arla)
375g sugar
75 g Good quality cocoa powder
300ml lacto free milk (Arla)
3 eggs size L
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 tsp baking powder
Whisk eggs and sugar until it white and foamy.
In another bowl mix flour with baking powder and cocoa powder.
Melt the butter. Sift the flour mixture in to the eggs and sugar, mix milk and butter in gradually. Add the vanilla extract and mix until even.
Bake the cake in a 25x30cm paper lined tin (or two smaller tins)
at 175 degrees. Approximately 25 min, test with a wooden skewer!
When cool (If you can wait) Decorate the cake as you wish!
Enjoy...
Since we found out that Felix is lactose intolerant we have had to change quite a bit of his diet and his choice of food! But I found out that a lot of our favourite baking recipes easily can be changed to his needs and without taking away the great flavours! A family favourite are the Banana Muffins.
I simply just change the butter to a good quality organic sunflower oil and voila the muffins comes out just as wonderful as always :-)
Here is the latest version, dark chocolate and blueberries baked for our day trip to Egeskov Slot in Denmark!
My big 'little' girl has turned 7!
She had her Rainbow party last Sunday as planned, 9 little girls turned up all dressed in their favourite colour from the rainbow and trust me they were ready to party....
We had a few things lined up for them to do. They started with the Pinata game, which is always fun, though the Pinata was so tough that even after 30 min bashing there was only a small crack in it! In the end I had to turn it upside down and shake the sweets out.
Then they had The Rainbow Birthday cake! I must admit that I was rather pleased with the result as it came out perfect when we cut it, phew!
Trust me the cake is not as difficult to make as it looks :-) I saw the idea on pintrest a while ago and then googled different recipes, I ended up using this one. The little cupcakes was also an idea I got from pintrest, I made them lacto free so Felix could have some cake to.
After the cake the girls went upstairs and played a few party games, they dressed up and were listening to very loud music! Ophelia had planned for them all to make their own masks, so we turned the dining table into a glitter galore and they all made a beautiful mask each!
The afternoon went really quick and I almost had to rush them down stairs for dinner. They had homemade chicken nuggets, chips and salad, followed by 'make your own ice-cream' They loved it!
They all got picked up around 6pm, and Ophelia had made them all a little party bags to take home filled with sweets and a toy!
Camilla our 'holiday child' was a great help through out the party and the days before, she helped making decorations and party bags.
All in all a great PARTY
Wonder what the theme will be next year? Any suggestions?
