I can't knit, but my Mother can, and she keep surprising me with her talent.
This is what she got out of a bit of left over yarn... Meow!

Copy Cat
The big blog craze amongst Danish bloggers at the moment is to decorate little porcelain tins with bamboo lids. I got myself a few of them when I was in Denmark last week, they are bought at the Danish Shop 'Søsterne Grene'. Here is my version

Smurf bag
I have done a little sewing whilst in Denmark, I've been making quite a few scarfs to sell in my shop (Copenhagen Blue) and a while ago I bought this cute little piece of fabric on ebay and finally made it into a little string bag to keep all Felix smurfs.

Lucky Stars
Lately I have been addicted to making origami lucky stars, I found a video on YouTube and followed the instructions, very easy! I bought the paper here.
I'm not quite sure what to use them for yet! Do you have any idea's?

Twinkle Twinkle little star
I got this brilliant idea from this lovely blog. Our kitchen window is facing the front of our house but we never bothered to have a blind or curtain. But in the dark months we always feel we could do with something to give us a bit more privacy, so this was the perfect solution.
All I had to get was some d-c-fix from Homebase, a star punch which I found on ebay, a bit of patience and voila our window was transformed.

White chocolate and liquorice almonds
When Malene was over last week, she showed me how to make these yummy treats, they are very much inspired by the very expensive Summerbird, liquorice almonds :-)
Have a go, they are very easy to make...
Roast the almonds on a baking tray in the oven for about 5-6 min at 170˚
cover them in melted chocolate
let them cool quite a bit before dusting them with a mixture of liquorice* and cocoa powder.
*I use Johan Bulow liquorice powder, due to its strength in flavour I mix it with cocoa powder, if you choose to use a different make you might not need to mix it up.
Also if you're not keen on liquorice, try to dust them with cocoa powder on its own, I'm sure that would be nice to :-)

1st Sunday in Advent
Though I live in UK I have a strong desire to keep alive Danish Christmas traditions, and one of them is to make a Advents Krans (Advent wreath) Usually we make ours of a wreath made of fir and each year we decorate it different. This years theme is very traditional red and white - As you can see on the pictures we light all the candles at once! I know this might not be the right thing to do, but personally I think it looks prettier this way.

Transformation
I once bought this little mirrored chest of drawers or make-up table if you like. One of many furnitures I pick up in charity shops or even in skips! Now it finally found its right 'home' after being painted in a lovely eggnog colour.

We did it, and we are still married!! Though Alistair is still not very keen on the retro wallpaper, Its now up, and its groovy..... (to our surprise, it only took us about an hour to do)
Most important, Ophelia LOVE's it and think she has the most amazing room ever.

Ophelia's Room
Ophelia's got this wonderful girlie room, but she has a wish about swapping the kitchen to a 'Make up' table. So this coming weekend Alistair and I are going to put up wallpaper on one wall and pack away the play kitchen. I already have an old make up table in the basement in the shop, it just need a bit of tlc.
It's going to be a surprise! So Ophelia & Felix are spending the weekend at my Sister & Estebans's place.
When they are away, we are going to do the makeover, wish us luck cause we have never done wallpaper before!
PS The wallpaper is amazing, 60/70's retro flowers.....
PPS Alistair absolute hates it :-s
